Why do windows keep opening up

Linux Ubuntu, PUP free and open source! Unlocked OS without bloatware. Dump data mining Windows platforms. There is no reason to still be using Windows today! Catherine Jaye Lindeman Tried most all the other tweaks without success.

Your tip worked! Edge was only starting when I clicked on the trivia in the middle of the screen. Sometimes the simplest solutions…… Thanks!! Sadly with the latest updates to Windows 10 they have prevented these methods from working. It now seems impossible to stop edge running after hibernation. I had to implement all solution to achieve a permanent stop for annoying edge to start up after every time I had switched off my laptop!

It is now uninstalled with all its directories. I am back to how things were before and I can use Mozilla as my preferred browser! Thanks for the helpful path to the Active folder but my folder was completely empty when I opened it so how do I stop Edge from opening automatically? Sadly it only worked for the day and reverted back to usual opening of Edge.

The files are still deleted though. Software programs such as Adobe Acrobat, iTunes, iCloud , and Spotify set themselves up to load as soon as you log into Windows.

Why is that a problem? Startup apps unnecessarily chew up memory and resources, potentially hampering your PC's performance. The more programs that launch at startup, the greater your PC is affected.

There are certain types of programs that you do want to start automatically, such as antivirus and webcam software. However, many apps muscle their way into your startup routine with little or no reason.

Don't worry. You can fight back. Windows has long offered a way for you to view and disable your startup programs. That option is no longer available in Windows Instead, you can check out your startup programs in a couple of other ways.

You can go through the Settings screen, where you can see each app, its current status, and the effect if you opt to disable it from starting up automatically. Another option is to go through Task Manager, where you can scour the list of startup programs, research each specific program on the web to learn what it does, and then disable any apps you feel don't need to launch at startup.

If you have to run a program that gets kicked out of the startup process, you can still launch it manually from its Start menu or Start screen shortcut. Follow the steps below to stop any App or Program from opening at startup in Windows 10 using Task Manager.

On Task Manager screen, switch to Startup , select the Program that you want to prevent from automatically starting and click on Disable option. Note: If you cannot see the Startup Tab, click on More Details option located at the bottom left corner of your screen.

Windows will remember that it was set as you main display. Open the Settings app, go to the System group of settings, and on the Display tab set the other display, the one you intend to use after disconnecting the second one, as your main display. If all else fails, open the problematic app. Drag it to the center of your screen.

Hold down the shift key and click the close button at the top right of the app window. This can force an app to remember its current position on the screen. After you close the app, open it again and it will remember its position this time around.
