Dirt smudges on the sideboards? Unidentified splotch on the floor? Gone are the days of big messy mops and massive rolling buckets. If you have hardwood or tiled floors in your home, the sponge mop is a simple staple. We like this durable one from Quickie for its storable size, easy-to-use swivel action, fast-drying and high-absorbance foam. Is it wrong to love a vacuum? A key player in a cleaner home, especially when you have beautiful Phenix Flooring carpet to protect, we look for vacuums that do double, even triple duty: detachable tools like crevice and brushes go from couch corners to the car; and a hypoallergenic or HEPA model will help the family breathe easier, too.
Want to create your own cleaning solutions? All you need is a solid spray bottle and a few ingredients, like baking soda, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, ammonia and lemons or lemon juice. Nothing sets the mood to knock out a few chores than putting on your favorite album, turning up the volume and pulling on a pair of these tough gloves. I think someone had a bowel movement in my bath tub plumbing and this is the only product that takes it out.
It appears we have seven years of crud in the pipes. The feces colored film that this products gets out of your pipes will make you a believer. The first use it released so much toot film that we felt like we needed to have another round of cleaning. After losing a bet I had to stick my hand in the water to drain it. Wiping off all the released film we filled the tub again. Just turning the jets the water seemed to be clear. However before I was going to ever get into this thing I wanted to do a second round of YUK treatment.
Once again in full force it appeared that someone had the squirts in tub as sludge came flowing out of the pipes. We're going to have to run this a few times before we use the tub. Remember those pink tablets that you use to get in grade school to show you all the plaque that was on your teeth The product is like that for you tub. I usually used tooth brushes to help me get a good clean in small areas, but I found myself really having to scrub with them which did damage to the brushes.
And when that happened, the brushes were then no good to me. I was moving out of my old house and had to get it cleaned to Military Specs as it was base housing, and I needed something to really help me get it cleaned. As soon as I started using them, I just couldn't stop!
I have already recommended them to everyone I know and will continue to do so. These are one of my new favorite cleaning tools. I LOVE them, and cannot praise them enough!! Promising review: "I saw this at my sister's house in the corner by the patio door and used it to very quickly help her clean.
We both have small children and hardwood floors to keep tidy. This makes it amazingly easy to sweep and immediately dump into the garbage. Saltine crumbs? Pine cones that somehow got stashed in the trunk of the tricycle? I f you have a toddler and hardwood floors I think this is really a time saver and worth your money.
After six months of it holding up famously, I decided to test drive it outdoors so I could clean up the sawdust my husband left before it rained. This made it so incredibly easy I just had to write a review.
Within eight minutes all the sawdust was in the recycling bin. My husband and I splurged on a Dyson vacuum last Black Friday and it is the best decision we've ever made.
It holds a charge well, gets into hard-to-reach crevices, and is just freakin' fantastic. Promising review: "I wasn't sure if I wanted to lay out this much money for a vacuum cleaner.
But we have a dog and I have dog allergies, so having a very clean house is super important to me. Plus, I love gadgets, so this was a huge guilty pleasure purchase.
After charging the unit up and using it, I couldn't believe how much dust and fur this unit picked up. I had to empty it four! We had a standard model Dyson before this, so it's not like my house was extra dirty. This stick vac really is that powerful — I never want another vacuum cleaner besides this one, and luckily it looks like it will hold up very well for many years into the future.

Those things do not work well together in the normal world, but these cans of Woolite Upholstery Cleaner have saved my life and my couches, and my rugs, and my carpets. Food, marker, pens, snot, poop, puke I will forever be indebted.
Promising review: "I bought one of these due to the testimonial reviews and because thanks to my six kids, we have slow drains. So I break it out on a Saturday night and started with my bathroom sink. Disgustingly amazing. It was truly amazing and so gross! I went to work on the other bathroom drains and they weren't nearly as amazing or as quick, but I pulled a bunch of dried hair out of the kids' tub.
So after five drains, I had my fun. I've spent a small fortune on Drano-type products that never seem to work. I won't buy them again. I was even so amazed I shared the nasty pic on Facebook and didn't think twice about somebody judging me. Get this. Promising review: "After reading the reviews I thought I could at least try it, and holy smokes, this is a miracle cleaner!!!
I think I have tried every cleaner on the market for pet stains and nothing ever really works on my carpets. Even if I get it off the top, it somehow comes back up. My crazy dogs hate the rain and they have one spot that they always go on when they decide they are not going outside.
I have cleaned the spot probably times. I cleaned this area one time with this cleaner and my spot steam cleaner and it is completely gone! Miracle cleaner for sure! Have been raving about this product since I first used it. No more do I hate washing floors, no more wringing out mop heads by hand ugh, this is wonderful. Put the mop head in spinner, spin it dry and just mop. No way could there be an easier and efficient way to clean my floors.
Promising review: "We have hard nasty well water. All of our nicer dishes were ruined from it. Until we bought this magic in a can. We used it once on a load of dishes and holy moly did they look better. We now uses it every few loads to keep them looking nice. Life changing product for our house. This starter kit comes with one Sweeper, seven dry sweeping cloths, and three wet mop cleaning solution cloths.
Promising review: "This product saved me — I have arthritis in my back and knees, and normal mopping and ringing out were such a chore and pain to my joints.
The Swiffer is so easy, no bending, no rinsing out, no ringing. I just put a wet pad on, run it over the floors, and they come out clean. When the pad gets dirty you just change it. I recommend this great product to every one if they want a truly clean floor with no hassle. Depending on the layout of your house, it may be worth considering having a feather duster in your cleaning kit. Feather dusters make easy work of cleaning the top of shelves, cabinets and, of course, those pesky ceiling cobwebs. Just be sure to start cleaning up high first, to prevent dust falling to lower surfaces later on.

I have a soft blusher brush I keep for dusting delicate ornaments, which gets into all the intricate bits. Wooden cocktail sticks for getting into those REALLY hard to reach corners, particularly on cookers, cotton buds dipped in spirit vinegar or rubbing alcohol, are also useful for this much better than sticking them in your ear Don't forget to thoroughly rinse out your sponges and microwave them for a minute or so while still damp, to sterilise them for their next use - remember to let them cool before handling!!
Microfibre cloths, while very effective, are not particularly eco-friendly when it comes to disposal, so perhaps bear that in mind. Thanks for sharing those tips! Your home must be sparkling clean - it makes us want to deep clean with cocktail sticks now! Sounds like far too many chemicals being used to me.
My wife was using a cleaner a while ago and she said to me that it made a lovely smell of lemon in the house. It did but I thought real lemon would not smell that strong, so I tried some lemon cleaning a few weeks later as I always use lemon to clean my wooden chopping boards. You could only just smell it.
So we never used that lemon smelling cleaner again. You have to remember you are breathing in those chemicals after using them.
The most useful item in my cleaning kit is a plastic bowl scraper, ideal for picking up vomit from carpets if you have children or animals. I use small pieces of scrap paper to get between the keys of my keyboard, moving any crumbs, dust etc to the same side then taking them out, also turning the keyboard upside down and gently shaking it to shake out any loose dust and crumbs.
Best to make sure the computer is turned off first! Great idea! Have you thought about trying the sticky side of a post-it note for this? The stickiness will pick up any crumbs so you won't need to shake your keyboard about too much. Hi Cyndy! It depends on how you're hoping to clean the items.
Would you be hoping to remove dust or more intense grime? I would ordinarily give items a clean with a dusting cloth dipped in a small amount of polish, but it really depends on the item! The suds. Which is why our favourite use of fairy liquid is for scrubbing the bathroom sink and shower. Bleach Get grout spotless.
