Really nice for a Sunday stroll, right next to the river. Social distancing is a challenge. It was very beautiful and we were able to find a secluded spot to hang hammocks amounst flooded ground and goose poop. Very easy and nice for a walk or picnic but not my favorite trail scenery wise. One long straight trail. Easy wide cement trail good for walking, riding, rollerblading.
Places to stop and rest, play, picnic. Has some gorgeous views! One of my favorite quick get always from downtown. Amazing day on White Pine trail, went from GR to Rockford and ate lunch, stopped for some ice cream on the way back. Amazing day would definitely do again!! This has been a favorite city park of my husband and mine for over a decade. An easy walk along the river to get your daily steps in on a paved trail.
Lots of dogs, families, bikers and walkers when the weather is nice. Areas for grilling and picnicking, a couple covered seating areas, big trees for swinging in your hammock, two portapotties available, and a ping pong table too!
This trail is incomplete, under construction with detours into the city. Nice park along the way and interesting history. As for Urban Hiking goes, it was a pleasant hike. I was warned to stay off one section due to homeless encampment. Use Navigator in the AllTrails app and join the other outdoor explorers who have completed this trail.
